Why you need human.
If you just want to translate, it is obviously much faster to rely on AI these days, and in most cases it can be done for free, with the quality generally being acceptable. However, simply translating something lacks a human touch, and it may not be able to clearly express the feelings you put into your product, the subtle nuances, playfulness, or the atmosphere you want to create. Perhaps if you ask AI, it will come up with something that is uniquely Japanese and best suited to Japanese people, but how can you be sure?
I was born and raised in Japan, and I run a business in Japan. I've used a lot of apps and services as a hobby, discovering new productivity tools via Product Hunt, Hacker News, Reddit, and Twitter. I can read and write English, and although I don't have many opportunities to speak it, I can gather information in English without any problems (although I believe that with the development of AI, anyone can do that now). I can provide natural and seamless translations that are perfect for Japan and for Japanese people.
And have great respect for indie developers. I have respect for the many people around the world who continue to perpetuate Open Source and personal development projects, rather than the big tech services that have made it difficult to find how our personal data is handled and stored across the internet.
Style of localization
Basically, I provide translations that meet the following requirements. These are the same for all my work, regardless of price.
Natural and seamless translation
This may go without saying, but the translations I provide must sound natural and natural to Japanese people, and I will do my utmost to make that happen.
Meet your technical requirements
I have used many apps and services in the past, from those that translate naturally into Japanese to those that don't. Of course, since they can be used in English, I don't have any problems without a Japanese translation, but because I have used many tools, I believe I can use my knowledge to provide more optimal translations.
Emphasize dialogue
However, I think there may be times when I encounter things that I don't understand. I will do my best to understand your product, but only you understand what you have created best, and I want to cherish those nuances, so I will be happy to have a dialogue to confirm them.
Use of AI policy
My goal is to help indie developers with their localization, and I don't aim for perfect translations, nor do I want it to be my only job. The price varies depending on the quantity, but I set the price lower than the monthly fee for the AI app because I use AI to save time, deliver faster, and improve productivity. However, I don't leave everything to AI. While I, a human, am undoubtedly the person in charge of your localization, I use AI to increase my time efficiency in areas that are not directly related to localization, such as understanding a wide range of documentation and using AI to fill in areas where my knowledge and information are not sufficient.
